124 km Day 6 Hands Bike Ride 2014

Day 6  in the big town of Surat Thani is often the hardest of the ride, mentally at least, being the day after the day after the rest day. It is also a day of some hills and long hot straights which can be more challenging than hills. Balancing that out is that the riders have become more adept at group riding by day 6 and the straights make it easier to keep together and pull each other along.

This years day 6 seemed to fly by with cooler conditions, tailwinds, group riding and small gaps between the first and last riders coming into the water stops. the day finished with an impromptu tug of war with local school children ( we got beat by the entire school it seemed),  and then a new route that avoided the centre of town and brought us to a new hotel on the outskirts of town.

All in all a very satisfying day washed down with a few beer Chang….
