Not a Political Blog - day zero -1

Finished the day by the hotel rooftop pool after a trip to MBK shopping centre for the annual contact lens buying run.

A group of 10 of us set off for MBK on the overhead railway with some uncertainty as to whether we would make it given that the intersections nearby are focal points for the current protests.

Bangkok is very odd right now with little traffic and low numbers of tourists on the streets.

We made MBK with few problems. The streets are full of protestors but the atmosphere currently is not aggressive. MBK instead of being full of tourists and office workers is now populated ironically by people wearing T shirts proclaiming "Shut down Bangkok". Shopping and eating at the foodcourt falls under that heading it seems.

Fingers crossed things remain as calm at least for the next two days leading up to the start of the ride.
