HATW Ride 2 South Thailand Day 1 Petchaburi to Hua Hin 84kms

Day 1 of ride 2 was a tougher day than I expected. I knew the drill, had 800kms under my belt and none of the new rider apprehension. It should have been a doddle however my legs lacked zip and the saddle seemed much harder than I remembered. 

After a bus trip from Bangkok to Petchaburi we got away on the bikes around 10:30 am. By then it was already noticeably hotter than it had been up North for the 1^st ride. 44 riders are participating making it the largest group ever to ride a HATW ride. It is good to  have Gwang and Jeng along from BaanTharn NC. The riding was through salt flats, lunch at charming Cha Am beach then a long slog into Hua  Hin on the highway.

We stopped at the new Hua Hin Cycle Tours/Tour de Thailand offices for fresh coconut drinks and to hang an original HATW ride jersey then on to the hotel. Great to see Nickie Race Jones from the NE ride welcoming us in (and again at dinner).

 We only had a short time to get our bags, find our room mates, shower and wash clothes before we grabbed a hotel bus into town for dinner at the Hua Hin night markets. Like last year I caught up with Pottsy after dinner in the bars of Hua Hin, but I had to leave him at the London Bar ( great Thai covers band) and grab a tuk tuk home as fatigue set in….
