The Big Ride 2012 - Day 1 Petchaburi to Hua Hin

Day 1 done and dusted.

Just a brief blog entry as we are out to dinner in Hua Hin shortly.

We left the Hotel in Bangkok by bus around 7:30am. This was a little late and so it took some time to escape the Bangkok traffic. Arrived Petchaburi for bike pick-up and adjustments and then we were off, through the town of Petchaburi and down to the coast. We passed through a largely rural landscape, including salt flats on the way to Cha Am Beach for late luch at 2pm.

Earlier Rotjana some staff and local children cheered us into town. Good to see Vic again form Baan Tharn Namchai, there as driver for Rotjana.

After Cha Am the last stretch to Hu Hin was a long a busier highway. Straight road and still quite warm as we arrived at the hotel around 4pm.

The day was warm, the winds light and the roads flat - a perfect way to start. No major mishaps and everyone ( around 35 riders or so) are in good spirits.

My knees are complaining a little but no cause for alarm. Bigger day tomorrow in excess of 100kms.....
